A Rainy Day in Lymington

We celebrated the autumn equinox a day earlier with a visit to one of our favourite towns, Lymington. Predictably, the weather chose to embrace the shift in season but the rain only added to the atmosphere. We escaped from the cold to one of our favourite haunts, Stanwell House Hotel. With a cosy countryside interior and citrus spiced tea on the menu, it’s an idyllic spot to while away an afternoon.

Warmed up and ready to brave the cold, we browsed a few stores on the lookout for a new candle. Soon the rain became heavier and we dashed between pubs on the lookout for somewhere warm and inviting to eat. Lunch at The Ship Inn was accompanied with the patter of the rain before moving on to cocktails at The Cellar, a tiny bar and wine merchant tucked away on the cobbles. As the day came to an end, we hopped on the train back home, already planning to return soon.

How did you celebrate the autumnal equinox?
