Happy (belated) New Year!

Happy very belated New Year! It feels like forever since I have posted on my little corner of the internet. With so much going on over Christmas and this month, I haven’t really had the headspace for any creativity. I’ve been sharing my moments from January on Instagram but the words for a blog post have just not been flowing. When I’m in a negative mindset, it’s difficult to feel motivated or inspired. I suppose I have to start somewhere, though, so here is a slow step back into blogging again with some of the little things that I’ve been up to lately!

Lighting candles

After receiving my beautiful spa set from Gemporia, I’ve been using the candle nonstop. The scent is so delicate that I can leave it burning all evening. I find the glow from a candle so relaxing, especially after a stressful day. Next on my list is one from the upcoming collection by Luna’s Locket. I have one of her more autumnal candles, Chai Latte, which I completely adore, so I know that the new ones are going to be just as wonderful.

Faffing with the fire

There isn’t anything quite like a fire to make a room cosy. We’ve been putting it on so much this winter as the weather has been much chillier than usual. Unfortunately, I still haven’t quite mastered keeping it going so the majority of my days were actually spent faffing around to stop it from going out… Dave and his mum seem to be able to do this effortlessly but as soon as they leave the house, the fire decides to play tricks on me. Hmm.

Cooking

This month, we have probably seen more of Waitrose than any other place other than home… Every day, we’ve been popping in to pick up fresh ingredients for dinner but, on a positive note, this means that we have been cooking from scratch more. Some of our favourite dishes have been a delicious, hearty tofu ramen and a light and fresh seafood linguine. If you have any other yummy recommendations, then do leave them below!

Visiting cosy cafes

Sitting in front of my MacBook all day, working on assignments, would often take its toll so I made sure to take little breaks for fresh air the smell of coffee. Visits to our favourites around the New Forest included The New Forest Pantry in Ringwood, which has the prettiest teacups and cosiest snug upstairs, as well as Lounges of Lymington with the best cappuccinos in England. We also walked into Burley one afternoon for a midweek drink at our local and a much-needed change of scenery!

So those are the four things that have kept me busy this month – aside from the looming assignment deadlines, of course! After some very upsetting events in December, things are slowly getting back to normal. I will do my best to post more regularly as it really is a lovely escape from everyday life. Hopefully my creativity will return soon…

How have you been keeping busy this month?
